The mode on the menu will be Horizontal Deform. This is because the result of tracing your object is the creation of a path object. Notice that the menu bar has changed to the tools related to the Path tool.Your image will have a red bounding box around it. When the Trace menu opens, accept the default options and click OK. On the menu, select Edit\Trace\Selection Marquee. Click the Magic Wand on the grey part of your image.
Set the attributes on the menu bar as shown below. This will cause the options on the menu bar to change. Click on the Standard Selection Tool\Magic Wand.To draw the circle directly on top of the square, hold down the ALT key, otherwise, start drawing the circle outside of the box. Draw a circle about 125x125 and drag it to the center of your square. Click on the Shape again and select the Circle.Note: You can determine the size object you are drawing by looking at the lower left corner of the screen where you will see the width and height of the object change as you drag the object with your mouse. Click anywhere outside of the square to de-select (or press the Enter key). Sizes do not have to be "exact", these are just suggestions. Draw a square about 150x150 in the center of your new image. Set the color to grey and the mode to 2D object. This will cause the options on the menu bar to change to the appropriate options available for this tool. Click on the Path tool\Path Drawing Tool on the left tool bar.The center will be "hollow" so you can put an image under it if you want. We are going to make a square shape with a round center. Open a new image 300x300, white background.
Once you have made the first shape with detailed instuctions, you should be able to make the remaining shapes by following the same steps but using a different shape. In this tutorial, you will make a shape, add the shape to your Easy Palette, and then use that shape to create an object.
